Three Monks

Three Monks!!

Introduction

Its a Chinese animated feature film about three monks , showing the working behavior characteristics of people with the introduction of a person in an organisation.
The film is based on the ancient Chinese proverb "One monk will shoulder two buckets of water, two monks will share the load, but add a third and no one will want to fetch water."
The film tells the story from the aspect of the buddhist bhikkhu.

The movie was shown to us to highlight the team work and its benefits to make us learn the principles of organisation management more interestingly.

In the story , a young monk lives a simple life in a temple on top of a hill. He has one daily task of hauling two buckets of water up the hill. He tries to share the job with another monk, but the carry pole is only long enough for one bucket. The arrival of a third monk prompts everyone to expect that someone else will take on the chore. Consequently, no one fetches water though everybody is thirsty. At night, a rat comes to scrounge and then knocks the candleholder, leading to a devastating fire in the temple. The three monks finally unite together and make a concerted effort to put out the fire. Since then they understand the old saying "unity is strength" and begin to live a harmonious life. The temple never lacks water again.

Difficulties

It was noticed that one monk can easily haul two buckets of water at a time and without wasting any time to think for who is going for the task. But with the entry of another monk , situation gets changed . They were wasting time to think who is going to haul the bucket . Then they were carrying just one bucket when both were doing the task along. They were not even comfortable carrying a single bucket. With the entry of the third monk, situation worsened a bit more .Their time for thinking has gone up , it was a total chaos.

Standardization

Problem of unbalance of the carry pole is smartly sorted out by the first two monks by measuring the pole by scale, this would equalize the weights carried by each monk. It shows the benefits of the standardization process. The job should be measured in terms of time or quantity of material only by the use of standard units.

Climax

After arguing over water hauling , they were struck in a difficult situation. Their tent was burning because of a rat , who has knocked  the candle and the fire went across their temple. They all get frightened and worked together to douse the fire. Now they were thinking just to complete their task , not thinking anything else. It was more coordinating and fruitful result was visible after the task completed. Now they become friend and jointly came to the decision of hauling water with an efficient way. Hence jointly their way forward for the problem becomes a success. This shows the benefits of working and analyzing thing in team.

We have a great sense of togetherness. It is our team spirit that has taken us to this World Cup.
